Robson was on location in Durlston Country Park on Saturday 15th March 2025 when runners in the Jurassic Express half marathon passed through, and was happy to pose with several competitors – including an inflatable dinosaur and a rhino!

While he has made three seasons of walking programmes for the BBC since the Covid lockdown – Weekend Escapes – they have all been set in North East England or the Scottish Borders.

Although he has filmed one-off TV programmes on fishing and wild swimming in Dorset before, this is the first time he has walked the Jurassic Coast and says he was stunned by its beauty.

Secret coves of Dorset

Robson Green said:

“We are shaped by the landscapes around us, and each episode of World’s Most Amazing Walks will be a journey of discovery that winds its way through time, culture and nature.

“I have spent the last few weeks in Dorset on a journey of discovery through time and history for the BBC on a series that reminds us all of how important it is to preserve our heritage and the past.

“The idea is that I go on a series of unforgettable adventures along some of the world’s most awe-inspiring trails, sharing my passion for walking and meeting locals, other walkers, historians, wildlife experts and geologists along the way.

“I’ll also get to experience the rocky valleys of Poland’s Eagle’s Nest Trail, the ancient pilgrim route of the Santiago di Compostela in Spain, as well as the secret coves of the Jurassic Coast – I can’t wait to get to know all of these stunning parts of the world with the soles of my feet.”

Distinctive setting for TV and film

A spokesperson for Dorset Council said:

“The presence of TV crews filming all over Dorset has become more and more common, as we continue to attract productions seeking a distinctive setting for a range of documentaries and dramas.

“Our unspoilt countryside and dramatic coastline are increasingly serving as the backdrop for films and TV programmes, offering a stunning environment that truly brings scripts to life.

“This kind of publicity for Swanage, Purbeck and the whole of the Jurassic Coast is very welcome and we are sure that it will result in many people choosing to come here to experience it for themselves after seeing it on TV.”
