Swanage Beach

The fine sandy beach that sweeps round the bay is one of Swanage’s main attractions. The council-owned central beach is a Blue Flag beach meaning that it meets high standards for its water quality, beach cleanliness, safety and services.

It has also been given the Seaside Award, which recognises and rewards beaches that achieve the highest standards of beach management and, in the case of bathing beaches such as Swanage, meet guideline water quality.

Beach huts for hire

Facilities include beach huts for hire, toilets, beach shower and deckchair hire. There are also plenty of beach cafe’s including The Cabin which is right on the beach beneath the Grand Hotel.

Dogs are welcome on central beach from the 1st October to the 30th April, each year. From the 1st May to the 30th September, dogs are not permitted, however, they may use Monkey Beach which is located by the old stone quay, close to the pier.

North Beach is privately owned above the mean high water mark and the beach owners have their own dog regulations in place throughout the year.
