CCTV image released following theft of e-bikes in Swanage

Purbeck Police are appealing for anyone who has any information about the identity of a man, pictured on security camera footage in Swanage, to contact them after the theft of two electric bikes.

It was reported that between 1.50 pm and 4 pm on Saturday 28th May 2022, two Cube electric bikes were stolen from outside The Mowlem theatre in Shore Road. The bikes were locked and secured in a bike rack.

Following the incident, Purbeck Police say that one of the bikes was subsequently recovered and returned to the owner.

Police community support investigator Brett Hirst, of Dorset Police, said:

“I am continuing to investigate this incident and have obtained a CCTV image of a man I would like to speak to.

“I am appealing for anyone with information about his identity to please get in touch.”

Electric bike thefts across Purbeck

There has been a recent spate of electric bike thefts across Purbeck.

The police advise owners of electric bikes to try not to leave them in the same place on a regular basis and make sure that the lock is appropriate for the cost of the bike.

For an electric bike, it’s recommended to use a platinum grade lock.
