Drink driver arrested after car smash in Swanage

A man has been arrested after crashing his car into a bollard in Cow Lane in Swanage.

Purbeck Police said that the man, who was driving a grey Audi, was a drink driver. The collision with the bollard caused extensive damage to one of the front wheels of the car, making it undrivable.

Taken into custody

Part of the road between the High Street and Newton Manor Grange was closed following the incident, until the car could be removed.

It’s thought no one else was involved and that the driver was unhurt. The man was arrested by the police response team and has been taken into custody.
