A vehicle was seen to collide with pedestrians and the driver was reported to have produced a knife and made threats outside a seafront restaurant in Swanage, Dorset.
Police officers are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward after the incident outside the Smoke on the Water restaurant on the lower High Street between 10.15 pm and 11 pm on Friday 30th January 2026.

Silver BMW driving dangerously
It was reported that a silver BMW was driven dangerously along the High Street and surrounding area in Swanage.
The vehicle collided with pedestrians however no one was injured but it is alleged the driver subsequently threatened people while holding a knife.
Police constable Tom Rennie, of Purbeck police, said:
“I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area and saw what happened or has relevant dashcam footage to please get in touch.
“We believe there was a large number of people in the area at the time and would like to hear from you if you have any information.”

The popular Smoke on the Water restaurant is on the corner of the lower High Street and Seymer Road, with views over Swanage Bay
