“Drop in and pick up” free coats and PJs for kids in Swanage

Parents in need of coats and pyjamas for their children are invited to stop by Swanage Children’s Centre to collect clothing to keep their kids warm through the bleak winter months.

The centre in Chapel Lane, will serve as a collection site for new and nearly-new clothes for children between the ages of three and 12 years.

It will be open on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th December 2020 between 9 am and 1 pm. There’s no paperwork – the items are there for anyone who says they need them.

Kindness of residents

This bank of clothing was made possible by the generous donations of people from Swanage and all across Dorset.

Several more of these pick-up sites are available across the county – including Wareham, Weymouth, and Dorchester.

Councillor Andrew Parry, Dorset Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children, Education, Skills and Early Help, said:

“Please drop-in and pick up a warm winter coat and pyjamas, it is very easy, no forms, no pre-booking – just nip in and grab what you need.

“Outdoor play is incredibly beneficial for children, and with winter drawing in we are pleased that thanks to our community pulling together we will be able to provide winter coats and pyjamas to help Dorset’s children stay cosy this Christmas.”
