Residents in Swanage were woken late at night after a fire crew arrived to put out a blaze that had broken out in a skip full of rubbish, close to homes and vehicles.
Swanage Fire Station was called to the incident in Durlston Road, just before midnight on Monday 17th April 2023.

In a normally quiet part of the town, rubbish in the skip was burning fiercely when the fire crew arrived on the scene.
Swanage Fire Station reported:
“One pump was mobilised to a skip fire to the south of the town. On arrival the skip was well alight and was extinguished using one hose reel jet.”
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service added that the fire was believed to have been started deliberately and had been referred to the police.
