Swanage Fire Station in Dorset is to attempt to wash as many cars as possible in just one day, all in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity.
The Swanage crew is inviting people to bring along their cars for a wash from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday 2nd May 2026 to the fire station in King Road West next door to the Co-op.

The car wash in 2025 was very popular
“Make a donation on the day”
A car wash was held in 2025 and although it rained and the organisers got drenched, it was such a success it was decided to be repeated this year.
Station commander of Swanage Fire Station Nick Corben said:
“Now that the sunshine is here, this is a great opportunity to come and get your cars washed and make them sparkling for cruising around town in the warm weather!
“It’s also a great chance to support the amazing Fire Fighters Charity who do so much work in supporting both firefighters and their families through hardships and injury rehabilitation.
“No need to book, so please come along and make a donation on the day.”

Usually aimed at fires, the station’s water jets were used to clean vehicles

In 2025 there was a queue despite the rain but fortunately the weather forecast is better for this year
Charity supports firefighters and their families
The Fire Fighter’s charity provides lifelong care and support for firefighters in the UK and their families, helping them adapt to physical, emotional and social challenges, as well as illness and injuries.
It relies on donations to continue, in particular the money raised by fire stations around the UK by holding car washes.

One of the recent callouts for Swanage Fire Station was a series of heath fires in the Great Ovens Hill area near Holton Heath in Dorset
Fancy becoming a firefighter?
Swanage Fire Station is also looking for more men and women who would like to join its team as a firefighter.
It’s holding a recruitment afternoon between 2 pm and 5 pm on Saturday 23rd May 2026 for anyone who would like to find out more about the paid role.
Nick Corben said:
“This is an opportunity for anyone interested in becoming an on-call firefighter to come down and meet the team, have a look around the station and discuss what being part of Swanage Fire Station is all about.
“We are ideally looking for people that can give day cover, mostly during weekdays but also the weekends as well.
“Being an on-call firefighter is paid and is an exciting part time job. You will learn many valuable life skills and also will be helping out your local community.
“If this sounds like something you’d like to be part of please come down on Saturday 23rd May and see what it’s all about.”
