Gold medal winning florist to put on show for Purbeck Flower Club

The Purbeck Flower Club, which meets monthly at The Mowlem in Swanage, Dorset, is to take over the main auditorium to host a talk and demonstration by a former UK florist of the year and RHS Gold medallist.

Mark Entwistle, who lives in Cheshire, will be travelling south to be on stage demonstrating his skill from 2 pm on Thursday 22nd May 2025, with everyone – club members and the general public – invited to come along and get inspiration.

Everyone welcome

The long established Purbeck Flower Club is part of The National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies and runs a full programme of demonstrations and workshops throughout the year.

Normally, members meet every third Thursday of the month in The Studio at The Mowlem, however once a year, a special guest is booked to perform in the main theatre and everyone is welcome to come and hear them speak.

“It’s a form of therapy”

Barbara Bale, president of the Purbeck Flower Club for the last 17 years said:

“You can forget all your troubles when you come along to see our flower arranging demonstrations – your whole mind can become transfixed when you watch them create such perfection.

“Flower arranging can become a bit of a bug and once someone comes to one meeting they often get addicted!

“It’s a form of therapy which attracts people from different backgrounds, whether they are artistic, gardeners, love nature, or just enjoy the social aspect.

“And we have a variety of speakers with wonderful expertise – people who have won gold medals at RHS Chelsea and created displays for amazing places like Westminster Abbey. They are of a high calibre and often well known like Mark Entwistle.

“He’s very talented and I’m really looking forward to the event. It would be lovely to see lots of others come along to The Mowlem to see him. You never know, they may get the bug too!”
