Helicopter rescue for cyclist from top of Purbeck Hills

A woman sustained injuries when she fell off her bike, close to the top of Nine Barrow Down near Swanage.

The incident happened in the remote location on Monday 3rd January 2022.

Emergency services including the Dorset and Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the South Western Ambulance Service went to her aid.

Hurt her head in the fall

While she had hurt her head in the fall, a passer-by said she was conscious and able to communicate with medical staff.

The woman was then put on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

Nine Barrow Down is part of the chalk ridge that makes up the Purbeck Hills in Dorset and overlooks Swanage and Harmans Cross to the south and Poole Harbour to the north.
