2021 is here – and a new and hopefully brighter dawn is rising over Swanage, Dorset and the rest of the world.
Despite a year marred by the Covid-19 pandemic, our seaside remained as beautiful as ever through every season.
In winter, spring, summer or autumn, Swanage never fails to offer some stunning sunrises. Numerous local photographers head down to Swanage Bay at all times of the year to catch the first glimpse of light as it comes over the horizon.

“It is one of nature’s blessings”
Swanage resident Steve Clarke, who takes pictures as Dardanelles Photography, said:
“I love waking before dawn and making my way down to the beach to catch the beautiful sunrises across Swanage. They never disappoint and are truly spectacular, whether you’re at North Beach, along Shore Road or at Peveril Point – truly breathtaking to behold. It is one of nature’s blessings that occur everyday and are free to all.”
Here is a selection of some great pictures of the sunrise over Swanage from throughout 2020.
We hope that 2021 will offer you an equally stunning rosy dawn in the new year.
