Pot holes along Kings Road West in Swanage are to be fixed but it will mean overnight closures for the resurfacing work to be carried out.
Dorset Council highways team will shut a section of Kings Road West between Wednesday 23rd March and Friday 25th March 2022, each evening from 7 pm until 6 am.

The section in brown will be closed. The diversion is marked in purple
Diversion in place
The section of Kings Road West affected is between Swanage Fire Station and the Regency Dental Practice, which is also between both junctions with Court Road.
The 230 metre section of the road will be open during the day, with a diversion in place overnight.
The official diversion route is via Rempstone Road and Victoria Avenue and signs will be in place to direct traffic.

“Targeting the most damaged sections”
During the closure periods there will be no on-street parking available. Parking restrictions will be imposed to prevent waiting or parking on the roads. Vehicles breaking these restrictions are liable to be towed away.
Colin Griffin, Dorset Highways site agent, said:
“In the current financial climate, the highways service has had to focus its budget on targeting the most damaged parts of road and areas with safety issues.”

“Apologise for any inconvenience”
It’s the second time in a week that this section of road has been dug up. Last Friday 18th March 2022 utilities company Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) was digging up the road to repair a small area of underground cable.
A spokesman for SSEN said:
“The fault and repair were located and carried out on Friday 18th March and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience this work caused our local customers.”
