Dorset Police say a man has been arrested on suspicion of a driving offence after the vehicle he was driving was involved in a crash on the A351 near to Norden roundabout in Dorset.
The incident which closed the main road between Corfe Castle and Wareham for several hours happened around 2 pm on Wednesday 8th July 2026.

It’s believed the two vehicles collided on the stretch of road called Gallows Hill.
A spokesperson from Dorset Police said:
“Officers attended with the ambulance service and a road closure was put in place. A man was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence and taken to hospital for treatment.
“The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to hospital for treatment.
“The injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.”
A fire and rescue crew from Wimborne were also called to the incident but fortunately were not required to rescue anyone from the vehicles, but did assist with road and traffic safety at the scene.
The vehicles were recovered and the road was reopened at around 4.40 pm.

Many of those who tried to get round via country lanes like Furzebrook Road had trouble getting through and had to turn round
Long traffic tailbacks
The road closure of several hours caused long traffic tailbacks along the A351 with vehicles trying to reach Corfe Castle and Swanage stationary outside the Halfway Inn.
School buses and the Purbeck Breezers were unable to operate between Swanage and Wareham while the main road was closed.
Many heading from Swanage diverted off the main road and tried to navigate round the road closure via Church Knowle to get to Wareham.
However, they were met with traffic coming in the opposite direction who had diverted off the A351 at Stoborough, heading towards Swanage. This caused many jams as a number of larger vehicles got stuck in the narrow country lanes.
There was also another collision between vehicles on a narrow stretch of Furzebrook Road near East Creech.
