Man from Weymouth dies after car crash near Wareham

Part of the A352 near Wareham in Dorset was closed following a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision involving a blue Seat Leon car.

Dorset Police say they received a report about the incident at East Stoke at 10.41 pm on Thursday 21st August 2025 and they are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Pronounced dead at the scene

Sadly, a 44 year old man from Weymouth was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

The road was closed between Wool and East Stoke to allow emergency services to respond to the incident and for specialist officers to examine the scene.

Sergeant David Cotterill, of Dorset Police’s roads policing team, said:

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who sadly died in this collision.

“An investigation is underway into this incident and I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened and has not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“Also, I am keen to speak to any motorists who captured dashcam footage of the manner of driving of the vehicle involved or of the moments leading up to the collision to please contact us. You may have vital information to assist our enquiries.

“Finally, I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures are in place.”
