Purbeck Police are looking for three people, described as wearing balaclavas or face coverings, who were spotted stealing a motorcycle in Swanage in Dorset.
Two incidents happened on the evening of Friday 18th October 2024 – one in Steer Road in West Swanage at around 9.30 pm, and the second from a parking area behind Ilminster Road in the town centre at around 10 pm.
It’s believed the same suspects moved on from Steer Road to steal a motorcycle from Ilminster Road
Suspects wearing balaclavas or face coverings
Police say that the first motorcycle taken from Steer Road, was dumped and recovered not far from where it was taken.
Three suspects were seen attempting to steal the bike from Steer Road and have been described as all wearing balaclavas or face coverings.
A second motorcycle, stolen from a parking area behind Ilminster Road, has not been found.
Purbeck Police say that enquiries into both these thefts are ongoing and are appealing for information:
“If you live in these areas and have CCTV or a doorbell camera, please have a look and see if you have captured anything that may help.”
Police enquiries are ongoing
“Try to put a chain or lock through a wheel”
Purbeck Police added:
“If you own a moped or motorbike try and park it in a garden or somewhere off the road, as this makes it less likely to be targeted.
“Those parked in the street are less risky to the thief. Whether you park it out of sight or in the street, always try to put a chain or lock through a wheel.
“Thieves will try to quietly wheel away a motorbike and try to hotwire it somewhere away from the site of the theft. If the thief cannot wheel the bike away in the first place, it will make it much less likely to be targeted.”
