Police increase patrols after burglary spree in Swanage

Three properties in Swanage, Dorset, have been broken into within a period of four days and Dorset Police says it has increased its police presence in light of these burglaries.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following these series of break ins.

Stihl hedge trimmer stolen

Police say that between 10 pm on Monday 18th August and 6 am on Tuesday 19th August 2025 a burglary occurred at a property in Moor Road in which a Stihl hedge trimmer was stolen from a shed.

It was also reported that between 9 pm on Sunday 17th August and 3.30 pm on Tuesday 19th August 2025, entry was forced to an address in Rabling Road.

Then, a further report was received that between 5 pm on Tuesday 19th August and 5.30 pm on Wednesday 20th August 2025 a property in Prospect Crescent was broken into.

Officers are currently carrying out enquiries to find out whether any items were stolen from these addresses.

“We have increased patrols in the area”

Inspector Simon Perry, of Dorset Police, said:

“We are continuing to investigate this burglary series and we have increased patrols in the area in light of these reports.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area at the time the incidents occurred.

“I am also keen to hear from motorists driving in the area at the time with dashcams fitted, as well as any local residents with doorbell or home CCTV cameras, who may have captured any footage of relevance to my investigation.”
