A pony had a lucky escape after getting stuck in a bog on Rempstone Heath near Corfe Castle in Dorset.
Firefighters from Swanage, Wareham and Poole were called out on the afternoon of Sunday 2nd March 2025 to rescue the distressed pony.

Stuck in the boggy marshland and covered in mud
“Upright but a bit wobbly!”
Crews used specialist rescue equipment to retrieve the pony from the mud including strops which are slings used for lifting.
Swanage Fire Station reported:
“Together with a crew from Wareham Fire Station and the technical rescue team from Poole Fire Station, we’ve been at Rempstone Heath this afternoon, rescuing a pony from marshland.
“Once the pony was sedated, we were able to get strops around him and, with a lot of effort, we were able to pull him to safety.
“When we left the scene, he was upright but a bit wobbly!”

The pony recovered well despite its ordeal
