The Margaret Green Animal Rescue charity, based in Church Knowle, near Corfe Castle, is advertising for a new chief executive after the previous boss stepped down.
Geoff Wright, who was in the position for seven years, has left and now the charity is recruiting for his replacement.
Margaret Green Animal Rescue is the largest animal welfare charity in the county with two rescue centres in Dorset and one in Devon, along with a network of six charity shops.

Largest animal welfare charity in Dorset
The popular charity was founded in 1965 by Margaret Green and rescues and rehomes animals as well as providing long-term care for others. It looks after more than 1,200 animals every year.
Its work with mistreated, neglected or abandoned pets is well known, with animals getting veterinary care, and being prepared and rehabilitated ready for a new home.

Six charity shops
According to the advert, the successful candidate for the chief executive role does not have to have charity or animal welfare experience but will need a track record in delivering projects on time and in budget. Not unsurprisingly, a love of animals is essential!
Geoff Wright was instrumental in building up the charity shops which provide a regular flow of income. There are now six, including one in Swanage.

Major projects
Under Geoff’s leadership the charity secured major projects such as the Barn and Sandschool at Church Knowle.
He also played a key part in the refurbishment of the kennels and administration building at Lincoln Farm near Bere Regis and more recently the improved refurbishments at the Wingletang Centre near Tavistock in Devon.

“Wish him all the best”
A spokesperson for the charity said:
“We will miss Geoff’s enthusiasm in welcoming creativity and being an active member of our local communities. He is now relocating to be closer to his family and we wish him all the best with future endeavours.”
Trustee Matt Devereux has taken over as interim chief executive while recruitment for a permanent replacement takes place.
The chief executive role, based primarily in Church Knowle, is being advertised widely with a salary of between £50,000 and £70,000.
