‘Rural romp’ to be performed in Studland

Offering a combination of agricultural antics, farmyard frolics and pizza to draw in the crowds, a two man comedy show has been booked to perform in Studland in Dorset.

The duo Stu Mcloughlin and Ian Harris, part of the Living Spit team, are bringing their show One Man and His Cow to Studland Village Hall on Saturday 27th May 2023.

High quality arts events in local community venues

This performance is part of the Artsreach summer programme which gives rural communities all over Dorset the opportunity to see and participate in high quality arts events in local community venues.

Living Spit is currently on tour across the South West of England having already performed the show at the Bristol Old Vic and the Minack in Cornwall. After Studland, the duo are heading off to the Bridport Arts Centre in West Dorset.

Farmer Trevor has a big problem

Described as a hilarious rural romp, One Man and His Cow tells the story of farmer Trevor, who has a big problem.

Given just months to live, he is faced with the dilemma of which one of his three children to bequeath his beloved farmstead to.

Each has their own beguiling qualities and Trevor just can’t choose between them. Then one fateful night in the cowshed, help arrives from the most unlikely of sources…

This is all told with homespun charm and wit, and entirely in rhyme and song.

“Hilarious rural story”

Artsreach co-director Kerry Bartlett said:

“We first presented this show in five rural pubs back in 2014, and re-toured it twice in 2018, each time attracting a capacity audience.

“We welcome Stu and Ian to Dorset this summer to present a revamped version of this hilarious rural story – it’s still one of our favourite Living Spit shows!”

The Old Harry Bar adjacent to the village hall will be open and there’ll be an opportunity for the audience to enjoy food and drink ahead of the show. Homemade pizza will be available to pre-order.

Living Spit says that the show is suitable for ages 10 years and over and audiences can expect mild dodgy language and several terrible puns!
