While the police have been asking tourists to stay away from Swanage due to the risk of spreading coronavirus, Mother Nature has issued her own message by whipping up sand storms, making parts of the seafront road impassable and giving anyone who ventures out, a sand exfoliating facial.
A bitingly cold, north-easterly gale has blown sand from the beach across Shore Road, making it look more like a desert than a highway, as captured in these photos by local resident, Chris Carana. Anyone who has essential reasons to drive through Swanage, is being advised to avoid the area.
While the winds are forecast to drop overnight, the road is likely to remain difficult to navigate tomorrow, except by foot or camel!
