Whatever the weather, the organisers of the Swanage Bowling Club open day are encouraging people to just turn up and have a go.
The event at the club in Beach Gardens is on Sunday 20th June 2021 from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. Those interested in playing, need to wear flat shoes with no heel but otherwise there’s no other special requirements.

Friday evening roll up sessions
In order to encourage more people to join the club, anyone who has a go and enjoys playing a game will be invited along to three Friday evening roll up sessions starting at 5 pm, for free.
Like many sports, playing bowls has been disrupted by the pandemic but the club was able to keep going when Covid rules allowed.

“The club is really very social”
President of the Swanage Bowling Club, Barrie Tatman said:
“Fortunately we’re an outdoor sport, so last summer we were able to bowl, although under strict Covid guidelines and even had internal competitions.
“From this May we’ve managed to have inter-club bowling competitions with a robust Covid regime – lots of cleaning and sanitising, social distancing and limited numbers, but good to be able to play.
“While we do have competitions, the club is really very social. We have roll-up sessions that are very informal to encourage people to just come along and enjoy the game.
“Rain or shine, I’d encourage anyone to come along to our open morning, as we’ll be there. And as it’s Father’s Day, why not bring a dad too!”
