With 27 winners over 10 categories, the Swanage Business Awards 2025 were bigger and better than ever, rewarding the businesses which make a valuable contribution to the local economy.
First launched by Marketing West in 2022 as the Purbeck Business Awards, including both Wareham and Swanage, the awards were split for the first time this year due to the number of entries which justified separate award ceremonies.

The Studio at The Mowlem proved an ideal venue for the awards
The Globe Inn on top of the world!
Taking place at lunchtime on Thursday 9th October 2025 in The Studio at The Mowlem on Swanage’s seafront, the room was packed with familiar faces from Swanage’s business community.
Scooping the top award of Business of the Year was The Globe Inn in Bell Street, which is run by local residents who revitalised the pub and restored it as a popular meeting place at the heart of the community in Herston.
The team also picked up Gold Awards for Independent Business of the Year and New Business of the Year. Accepting the certificates, Paul and Hannah Jameison were visibly overwhelmed at receiving such major recognition.

“Amazing community spirit”
Founder of the Swanage Business Awards Nigel Reeve from Marketing West said:
“Congratulations to all the winners – your success is richly deserved!
“Swanage is a great town, full of independent shops and businesses with an amazing community spirit. I must say that I always look forward to coming to Swanage for the annual business awards.
“We start planning for the 2026 Swanage Business Awards, almost as soon as these ones are over and I’m looking forward to seeing lots more local companies taking part next year.”

It was Nigel Reeve’s inspiring idea to boost local businesses by founding the awards across Dorset
