Hot off the press, Swanage Carnival’s programme for 2024 is being distributed across the town, ready to be snapped up by those keen to plan their week of festivities.
Thousands of copies have arrived and will be available to buy in shops, businesses and the Swanage Information Centre in the run up to the carnival, which takes place from Saturday 27th July to Saturday 3rd August 2024.

Glossy content over 52 pages
Copies will also be winging their way by post to all those from across the UK and even further afield who have preordered a programme.
It’s a substantial publication with 52 pages of glossy content, detailing all the displays, competitions, music and of course the main procession and the three nights of fireworks.
With this year’s theme of Jurassic Rocks, there’s a number of dino themed events including the Dinosaur Derby – a fun run in inflatable dinosaur suits!

“Taste of what’s to come”
Secretary of Swanage Carnival Kevin Langdon said:
“It’s great that moment when the lorry turns up in Swanage with all the newly printed carnival programmes.
“We hope the new programme for 2024 gives everyone a real feel for what will be happening over the eight days – not just a timetable of events – but a taste of what’s to come.
“Lots of people behind the scenes have worked really hard to pull everything together around this year’s theme of Jurassic Rocks and we think this edition is an interesting read – a real collector’s edition!
“We also have our Swanage Carnival app and that has lots of information too, but for me nothing beats our traditional programme and the more we sell, the more money we can raise for well deserving local good causes. It’s a win, win!”
The programme is available to buy in shops and businesses across Swanage including WPM Lettings in the Heart of Swanage

Profit distributed to local good causes
In 2023, it cost more than £225,000 to stage the carnival which was paid for by money from advertisers, donations and the income raised by selling pitches to stallholders and running the bar and refreshments.
In addition, a profit of £27,650 was able to be distributed to local good causes.
The cost of the programme has increased to £5 and it’s hoped that this will go towards ensuring all this year’s nominated charities will be able to benefit to the same extent as last year.
Plenty to read over a cup of tea!
