Swanage Coastguard wins Dorset best team of the year award

The ‘Jean Dean Memorial Award’ for the best coastguard team in Dorset has been presented to Swanage Coastguard.

The theme for this year’s inaugural award was ‘resilience’ and it was judged that while the team had to deal with some significant incidents in the past 18 months, they coped well under pressure with a high degree of professionalism, while ensuring that emergency cover was maintained.

The award, organised by the Dorset Senior Coastguard Management team, will have a yearly theme and be presented at the bequest of the late Jean Dean to the best coastguard team in Dorset.

A spokesperson for the Swanage Coastguard said:

“We are honoured to be the first team in Dorset to receive the award.”
