Swanage woman charged with attempted robbery at toy shop

A woman has appeared in court charged with possessing a knife and attempted robbery at a toy store in Swanage.

This was after an incident at John’s Toyland in Institute Road in Swanage around 5 pm on Thursday 9th March 2023.

“Woman had made demands for money from a man who was known to her”

Jane Amanda Keith from Steer Road in Swanage appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 11th March 2023 charged with possessing a bladed article in a public place and attempted robbery.

Purbeck Police said:

“Shortly after 5 pm on Thursday 9th March 2023 officers responded to reports of a woman causing a disturbance in Institute Road. It was alleged that the woman was in possession of a large kitchen knife.

“Officers attended, the woman was detained and a knife was reportedly found in her possession. Following enquiries, it was further reported that the woman had made demands for money from a man who was known to her.”

The 53 year old woman was remanded in custody pending her next appearance at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 13th April 2023.
