Teenager dies and two in hospital after car crash near Sandford

An 18 year old man, who was a passenger in a car, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, following a single vehicle collision on Morden Road near Sandford in Dorset.

The incident, which happened at 8.42 pm on Wednesday 18th February 2026, also left the driver of the black Volvo V70 vehicle – a man aged in his 20s – and another male teenage passenger, with serious injuries.

Morden Road is between the Sibley Pottery roundabout in Sandford and Morden Park Corner, and goes past Lawsons Clump in Wareham Forest

Appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage

The two with serious injuries were taken to hospital for treatment. The family of the 18 year old who died, has been informed.

Police officers investigating the fatal road traffic collision are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Road closures were put in place to allow emergency services to safely deal with the incident.

Police sergeant Josh Alner, of the Dorset Police roads policing team, said: 

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who very sadly died in this collision.

“We are carrying out a detailed investigation to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to please get in touch.

“I would like to thank the public for their patience while the road closure was in place, which enabled us to safely examine the scene.”
