Tribute paid to teenage son who died in car crash near Wareham

The family of an 18 year old who sadly died when he was in a car that crashed near Wareham in Dorset, say he was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Dorset Police received a report at 8.42 pm on Wednesday 18th February 2026 of a single vehicle collision involving a black Volvo V70 in Morden Road.

“Always remembered by all who knew him”

The driver of the vehicle – a man aged in his 20s – and another male teenage passenger both sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. They remain in hospital at this time.

Tragically, 18 year old Joshua Blake, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Dorset Police say officers are continuing to support his family.

Joshua’s family has issued a heartfelt tribute:

“Joshua had only just celebrated his 18th birthday before he tragically lost his life.

“He leaves behind his loving parents Martin and Caroline, brother Samuel, sister Chloe, his wider family and many friends.

“Joshua had a passion for supercars, which he always took the opportunity to photograph. He enjoyed riding his motorbike.

“He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed, always remembered by all who knew him.”

Appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage

Officers from the Dorset Police serious collision investigation team are continuing to investigate the full circumstances of the collision, and are urging witnesses as well as anyone with relevant dashcam footage or other information to come forward if they have not already spoken to police.
