Following the unexpected death of Swanage resident Mark Kilby, tributes have been paid to him by the local organisations that he was involved in, including Swanage Coastguard.
Mark, who was 62, had been part of the Swanage Coastguard team for three years and was also a keen member of the men’s walking football team at Swanage Town and Herston Football Club at Days Park.
He sadly passed away on the evening of Monday 27th September 2021, while taking part in a walking football game.
“Our condolences to Mark’s family and friends”
Swanage Coastguard said:
“We are very sad to announce the loss of one of our team. Mark joined our team in June 2018 and throughout the pandemic continued to train and respond to incidents.
“On Monday evening whilst taking part in a sporting event, Mark collapsed and despite the efforts of everyone there and medical teams, he sadly passed away.
“From all at HM Coastguard, we send our condolences to Mark’s family and friends.”
“Playing the game he loved“
Swanage Town and Herston Football Club also paid its respects. In a statement it said:
“Mark Kilby sadly passed away on the 27th September while playing the game he loved. He had played walking football with us for 5+ years and was a great asset to the team.
“Mark will be greatly missed by our coach, all the walking football players past and present and everyone at Swanage Town and Herston FC.
“We all send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time. R.I.P. Mark”
