Rescue teams rushed to help a woman in her 60s, who fell an estimated 100 foot from the top of the Old Harry Rocks, near Swanage, to the shingle beach below.
Yesterday afternoon, with sirens wailing through the town, Purbeck Police, Swanage Coastguard, Swanage Fire crew and South West Ambulance Service all made their way up to the top of Ballard Down.
Swanage RNLI, the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance and the Coastguard Helicopter were also mobilised.

Airlifted by the coastguard helicopter on a stretcher
Once the team arrived, the woman was treated on the beach and then airlifted by the coastguard helicopter on a stretcher up to the top of the cliff. At the top she was then handed over to the paramedics and doctors. Swanage Fire Station said:
“Unfortunately the lady suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Southampton Hospital. The incident showed great inter agency working and we wish the lady a speedy recovery.”
