A rare breed of Shetland sheep received serious injuries after it was attacked by a dog in Church Knowle near Corfe Castle in Dorset.
Dorset Police rural crime team say they received a report about the incident on Sunday 19th April 2026 which resulted in injuries to the sheep and costs totalling approximately £1,000.

“Significant harm, distress, and financial loss”
The woman who owned the dog was interviewed by the police and issued with a conditional caution.
Conditions included payment of the veterinary fees and adherence to a Dog Behaviour Order.
Dorset Police rural crime team said:
“We are reminding all dog owners to act responsibly around livestock. This is particularly important at this time of year, as many ewes are in lamb and are especially vulnerable.
“Attacks like this can cause significant harm, distress, and financial loss.”
