To cheers and a round of applause from onlookers, the boat that got beached on Swanage’s shoreline was able to be re-floated with the help of the high tide and a bit of brute strength!
It’s believed that the fresh easterly winds and a choppy sea on Thursday 17th September 2020, caused the vessel to break free of its mooring and to be blown onto Swanage’s Main Beach.
Earlier in the day, the yacht was well and truly stuck on Swanage Beach
Pushed off back into the sea
As the tide came in yesterday evening, the yacht named Fidelis, meaning ‘faithful’ was able to regain buoyancy and be pushed off back into the sea.
In front of a small crowd, six volunteers braved the sea to give the yacht a good shove, allowing it to set sail again, after a day of sitting on the beach.
Local resident, Timothy Crabb was able to capture the moment on film.
