Simon and Garfunkel tribute act returns to Swanage

Stopping off in Swanage before appearing at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Dan Haynes and Pete Richards, collectively known as the Bookends, will be performing all the Simon and Garfunkel classics.

The show, Simon & Garfunkel Through The Years, is for one night only at 7.30 pm on Wednesday 4th August 2021 at The Mowlem.

Rather than trying to look like the famous folk-rock group[ of the 1960s, Dan and Pete create an authentic vocal tribute to the music of Simon and Garfunkel.

The show, which features the well-known hits Bridge Over Troubled Water, Mrs Robinson, The Sound of Silence and Cecelia, has toured extensively in the UK, Europe, United States and Australia.

It has performed consecutive sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe since 2014, with 2021 being no exception.

Back on stage after long break

Like all singers, the last 18 months have been very challenging for the duo, when they couldn’t perform due to the Covid pandemic. Being back on stage doesn’t come without some trepidation. Pete Richards said:

“It’s always a nervous few minutes stood at the side of the stage waiting to go on, even after 10 years of touring.

“The long break we’ve had, has definitely added to those pre-show nerves but we’re looking forward to being in Swanage again!”

Dan and Pete won’t be able to stop in town for long though, because the first of their nine shows at the Edinburgh Fringe is just two days later on Friday 6th August 2021.
