“Climber had fallen several metres”

Located along the Purbeck coastline, Winspit Quarry is a popular place for outdoor pursuits, with several rock faces to challenge even an experienced climber.

Swanage Coastguard said:

“The call just before 2 pm, reported that a climber had fallen several metres receiving head and chest injuries.”

The coastguard teams worked with the air ambulance crew and helped transfer the injured climber to the helicopter.

“We are so proud of your achievements”

By coincidence, one of the paramedics on the air ambulance was a former member of the local coastguard team.

Swanage Coastguard said:

“As by chance, one of the aircrew paramedics, Chris was on his first day on the helicopter and had previously served on the coastguard team at Swanage.

“From all of your friends, Chris, we are so proud of your achievements.”
