Swanage’s coronavirus response plans coming together to support the vulnerable

Hundreds of community-spirited volunteers across the town are coming forward to offer extra neighbourly support to the vulnerable, in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

On the newly-created Swanage Community Coronavirus Response (SCCR) Facebook group, people are making it known that they are ready and willing to help.

Share information and support each other

The group, that already has over a thousand members, has been set up to share information and support each other across the local community.

Laura Rowan, who set up the group posted:

“Just a quick note to let you all know that we are restructuring (or indeed structuring!) the page a bit to make it easier to navigate. The plans for an organised volunteer network that will be able to reach those who need it, both on and offline, is coming together well.

We’re delighted to be supported in this by the Swanage Town and Community Partnership and the Town Council, who are helping us with their knowledge and experience. Thank you so much to everyone who has stepped forward already to offer help – I am sure it is really comforting for many people to see, myself included.”

On the Swanage Town Council Facebook page, the council gave its update:

“The Town Council and Swanage Town and Community Partnership are working together with the ‘Swanage Community Coronavirus Response’ Facebook group to formulate a plan to help the town meet the challenge of the current crisis.”

Details of how to become involved will be released soon. To find out more now, visit the Swanage Community Coronavirus Response Facebook group
