Video footage released of missing Wareham man in new search effort

Dorset Police, continuing their enquiries to find a missing man in his 50s from Wareham, have now released new CCTV footage in a bid to help find him.

Steven Clarke, 54, has been missing since Thursday 26th January 2023 and there’s been an extensive search for him including the police, Dorset Search and Rescue, coastguard volunteers and Poole RNLI.

Last confirmed sighting in Bells Orchard Lane

Following police investigative work, the last confirmed sighting of him is at around 11.20 am in Bells Orchard Lane to the east of Wareham’s town centre.

Steven is described as five feet 10 inches tall, of slim build and with brown unkempt hair. He often uses a gold-coloured walking stick.

The search for him has included Poole RNLI who spent the afternoon of Sunday 29th January 2023 scouring the riverbank and reed banks along the River Frome and the River Piddle. However nothing untoward was found.

Steven Clarke was spotted on CCTV footage in One Stop shop in Wareham at 9.10 am on Thursday 26th January 2023

Dashcam appeal

Chief inspector Andy Edwards, of Dorset Police, said:

“Our efforts to locate Steven are continuing and I am now in a position to issue a moving clip of him from his last confirmed sighting.

“I would ask any motorists who were travelling in the Wareham area between around 11.30 am and the evening on Thursday 26th January 2023 with dashcam to please check their footage for any sightings of Steven.

“Also, I am appealing for residents in the vicinity to please check their sheds or outbuildings for anything that may provide us with information as to Steven’s whereabouts.

“We are conducting extensive enquiries to locate Steven and would like to thank the community for the assistance they have provided so far.”
