Volunteers from Swanage’s National Coastwatch Institute, stationed at the lookout at Peveril Point in Swanage, were quick to come to the assistance of a woman who had fallen, while out walking.

Swanage Coastguard also arrived to help the woman, who had broken her leg when she’d slipped on wet mud at Peveril Point amid the rainy conditions on the afternoon of Wednesday 28th October 2020.

Pain relieving gas to ease her condition

She was in considerable pain, so further assistance was sought from the nearby Swanage Lifeboat Station and one of their volunteers was able to give her pain relieving gas to ease her condition.

This then enabled the teams to move the casualty off the wet ground, while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

Swanage Coastguard reported:

“Working together and with the arrival of the ambulance, the lady was safely stretchered to the ambulance and on to hospital.”
