Dorset Police to reveal what goes on in their ops room

To give residents an insight into the workings of Dorset Police, the force is going to share details of the calls they receive in real time over a 12 hour period.

As part of a live Twitter marathon on Friday 27th November 2020 starting at 2 pm, the public will be told what’s going on as it happens.

“Extraordinary year for Dorset Police”

Chief Constable for Dorset Police, James Vaughan said:

“It has been an extraordinary year for Dorset Police and I remain very proud of our officers, staff and volunteers for the dedication and professionalism they show every day – whether it be handling calls for service, attending incidents, investigating offences or working in a support role they are all helping us to keep people safe, prevent crime and bring offenders to justice.

“The demand placed on the force this year has changed and we have had to adapt quickly to these new challenges.”

Dorset Police survey

This Twitter marathon (or “Tweetathon”) comes while the police are conducting a survey called “Your Dorset. Your Police. Your View.”

This poll asks members of the public about their communication with the force, including how they would approach an emergency call and what methods they would like to see police use for communicating with the public.

Chief Constable Vaughan said:

“I hope that our Tweetathon will demonstrate the variety and volume of calls we receive and encourage you to have your say on contacting the force via our survey.”
