Big cash boosts for Purbeck community hubs

Two Purbeck organisations are set to receive an injection of cash from Dorset Council as part of a grant scheme to support our cultural and community centres in Dorset.

The Purbeck Youth and Community Centre in Wareham and Bovington’s Tank Museum are among the 17 organisations across Dorset that will get up to three years of financial aid via the Organisational Revenue Support Fund.

The Purbeck Centre will be given £6,000 for one year only under the financial awards for social, voluntary and cultural sector community locations. The Tank Museum – which is categorised as a cultural site – is getting £10,000.

“Health, wellbeing and learning of so many people”

Councillor Jill Haynes, Dorset Council portfolio holder for customer and community services said:

“I’m delighted Dorset Council is able to offer this support to some of the county’s cultural, voluntary and community organisations, despite pressure on our budgets, as we know they play such a key part in the health, wellbeing and learning of so many people.”

This funding project is designed to help support the revenue of significant cultural and community centres across the county.

Applications for the grants were submitted by organisations in late 2020 and the decision of the panel was made shortly before Christmas.
