Strong winds set to pummel Swanage as weather warning issued

Swanage residents should brace for blustery gales as strong winds are set to pound the country over the next couple of days.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow Weather Warning for wind in Dorset between 9 pm on Wednesday 10th March and 3 pm on Thursday 11th March 2021 – with gusts set to hit up to 62 mph on Wednesday 10th March 2021 in Swanage.

The Met Office reports :

“Strong winds accompanied by heavy and blustery showers may bring some disruption to England and Wales.”

Swanage is set for a gloomy few days of weather, with strong winds and heavy rain set to last through to Thursday and not brightening up till Sunday 14th March 2021.

Possible disruption

Residents are advised to anticipate some potential disruption caused by the high winds as the warning takes effect.

The Met Office warns motorists that high sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges should likely expect delays. 

General travel delays should be expected on road, rail, air and ferry transport. Some bus and train journeys may also take longer.

There is also the possibility of power cuts or disruption to other services.
