Swanage Fire Station was called to assist when a Renault Clio ended up in the hedgerow following a collision with a Mercedes car, travelling in the opposite direction along a country lane in Swanage, Dorset.
The incident happened at around 11 am on Saturday 25th November 2023 on Washpond Lane at The Swanage School end of the country road.

“No serious injuries”
Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the collision on the single carriageway road.
Swanage Fire Station reported:
“One pump was mobilised to a road traffic collision on Washpond Lane. On arrival all passengers were out of the vehicles with no serious injuries. We stabilised the vehicle and stopped some leaks caused by the damage.”

“Drive down narrow lanes with caution”
As a single carriageway road, the speed limit is 60 mph along Washpond Lane, which links Ulwell Road in North Swanage with the High Street in West Swanage.
Currently, Swanage Town Council is in discussions with Dorset Council to reduce the speed limit to 30 mph on a small stretch of Washpond Lane at the junction with Northbrook Road, near to St Mary’s RC primary school.
Swanage Fire Station added:
“Make sure you drive down narrow lanes with caution, especially in colder weather.”
