Swanage Fire crew along with coastguard teams from Swanage and St Albans went to the aid of a man who had injured his lower leg while walking along the South West Coast Path in Dorset.
The incident, where the man slipped and fell near Dancing Ledge, happened just after 2 pm on Saturday 2nd March 2024.

Unable to reach the man by ambulance, he was transported by stretcher across the fields
Muddy terrain
The 29 year old man from London, who had a suspected broken ankle, had to be rescued on a stretcher due to the difficulty in reaching him along the muddy terrain.
He was brought back to Spyway Barn by the teams, including a technical team from Poole Fire Station, where an ambulance was able to transport him to hospital.

“Great partnership work”
Swanage Coastguard reported:
“Coastguard teams from Swanage and St Albans along with fire service personnel from Swanage and Poole worked together to stretcher the male to Spyway Barn for an onward trip to Poole Hospital.
“Great partnership work today with ground conditions very difficult due to the recent heavy rain.
Swanage Fire Station added:
“We wish the person a speedy recovery.”
