Plans to redevelop Harrow House in Swanage revealed

Local people are invited to a public exhibition to see the proposals for the former Harrow House site in Swanage.

Property developers, Westcoast Developments, says it wants to share its vision and hear the views of residents at the event from 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday 17th December 2021 at The Mowlem in Swanage.

High quality Georgian style

While the plans are at a very early stage, the developer says the proposals are likely to include around 40 houses and 50 apartments, in what it calls a ‘very high quality Georgian style’.

Harrow House, off Walrond Road, was formerly an international language school but closed in 2020.

“Best time for residents to shape the plans

Planning consultants CL Planning based in Wareham are organising the exhibition. Giles Moir from the company said:

“I’d encourage people to come along and look at the proposals. It’s early days and the best time for residents to shape the plans. We genuinely want to hear the views of the community.”

“A range of homes from houses to flats

The plans, drawn up by ARC architecture, show that the current buildings will be demolished and rebuilt on a similar footprint.

Giles added:

“There will be a range of homes from houses to flats and there may be an ‘affordable’ home element subject to viability.”

Discuss the proposals

The project team including representatives from Westcoast Developments, ARC architecture and CL Planning will be at the exhibition and available to discuss the proposals.

For those that can’t make it to the event, the information will be made available from Friday 17th December 2021 on a website.
