Swanage man arrested after woman in hospital with serious injuries

Dorset Police have detained a man in custody following reports of an assault at an address in the centre of Swanage.

Emergency services were called to the home at 3.45 am on Sunday 28th November 2021.

Her condition is described as serious

Dorset Police say officers attended and a woman aged in her 30s was taken to hospital for treatment. Her condition is described as serious, but not life-threatening.

An investigation is underway led by detectives from Weymouth CID.

Following detailed enquiries, a 46 year old local man was arrested on Monday 29th November 2021 on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody.

A full investigation is underway

Inspector Ged Want of West Dorset and Purbeck Police said:

“The victim and arrested man are known to each other and I would like to reassure the public that a full investigation is underway into this reported incident.

“Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team will be continuing with their patrols and can be approached with any concerns.”
