“Unfortunately the daughter lost sight of her father”

Swanage Lifeboat Station reported:

“The pair had anchored their boat at the southern end of Studland Bay, so the father could go kitesurfing.

“Unfortunately the daughter lost sight of her father and was becoming increasingly concerned for his safety.

“To add to her difficulties whilst trying to start the boat’s engine to go and investigate she managed to snap the ignition key off. A nearby yacht called the UK Coastguard and they requested lifeboat assistance.”

By the time it took the lifeboats to arrive on the scene the father had managed to get back to the boat and had also managed to get the boat’s engine started.

With the situation resolved both boats were released to return to the Swanage Lifeboat Station.
