What’s on in Swanage over Easter 2024

Plenty of events are happening in and around Swanage over Easter, as well as the usual attraction of the beach and enjoying the countryside views.

Swanage Railway, Durlston Country Park, Swanage Pier, the National Trust at Studland and Corfe Castle are all putting on events, and there’s regular steam train trips to Corfe Castle and Norden everyday over Easter.

Easter egg trails

While a stroll around the mostly independent shops in Swanage can be interesting in itself, along with a visit to the various cafes, restaurants and pubs, there’s also specific Easter activities planned like egg hunts.

Thursday 28th March to Monday 15th April

  • Durlston Country Park – Easter bonkers bunnies trail. Hop along the park trail to win a prize. £3.50 per child

Friday 29th March to Monday 1st April 2024

  • Swanage Railway – Spot Easter eggs from the carriage window on a train journey. Free when purchasing a railway ticket

Friday 29th March to Sunday 14th April

  • Swanage Pier – Eggcellent Easter trail. Look out for coloured Easter eggs on the pier and once the clues have been solved, be rewarded with a treat and be entered into the prize draw to win an Easter hamper and prizes. £1.50 per child

Friday 29th March to Sunday 14th April

  • National Trust Knoll Beach – Easter trail and egg hunt at Studland Bay. £3 per child and includes a chocolate egg at the end

Friday 29th March to Monday 1st April

  • National Trust Corfe Castle – Easter egg hunt at Corfe Castle. £3 per child and includes bunny ears and a chocolate egg at the end

  • St Mary’s Church, Swanage – Purbeck Arts Choir performs Puccini’s Messa di Gloria from 6.30 pm. Tickets adult £12, children /students free
  • Durlston Country Park – Park Run at 9 am

  • Swanage Con Club – Carnival Easter bingo from 7.30 pm

  • Durlston Country Park – Glass engraving workshop at the Learning Centre 11 am to 12.30 pm. Adults and children aged 8 and over £15. Booking required
  • Swanage Legion – Poole band Vintage Dogs performs classic pop and rock covers from 8.30 pm
  • The Square and Compass – Norwich country-rock band Brown Horse performs at the pub in Worth Matravers, 8 pm to 10 pm

Easter Sunday 31st March

  • Swanage Main Beach – Sunrise religious service from 6.30 am
  • Peveril Point National Coastwatch – Tea and cake 10.30 am to 4 pm
  • Swanage Legion – Swing, soul and retro-pop band The Ratpack perform from 8.30 pm

  • Durlston Country Park – Drawing in pen, pencil and ink workshop by Madelaine Devaney at the Learning Centre, 2 pm to 4 pm, cost £20. Booking required

Tuesday 2nd April

  • Durlston Country Park – Durlston’s Habitats and Ecology evening talk by Hamish Murray at the Learning Centre 7.30 pm to 9 pm. £3 or free for Friends of Durlston. No booking required

Wednesday 3rd to Friday 12th April

  • Swanage Library – Create a spring collage. Drop in activity for families, 10 am to 3 pm

  • Durlston Country Park – Flower pot planting for children at the Learning Centre 10.30 am to 12 noon, cost £5. Booking required
  • Durlston Country Park – Victorian Durlston guided walk. Start at Durlston Castle, 11 am to 12.30 pm, cost £3.50. No booking required
  • Isle of Purbeck Golf Club – #Willdoes charity golf day from 9 am, £400 per team. Booking required
  • Langton Matravers village hall – Purbeck Folk Club night of music with performances from Alex Hedly and Over The Hill, 7.30 pm for 8 pm start, tickets £10

Friday 5th April

  • Swanage Con Club – Fun Race Night including ploughman’s supper. Doors open 7 pm for first race at 7.30 pm, tickets £5
  • Church Knowle village hall – Traditional ceilidh and supper evening with live music from Purbeck ceilidh band Arish Mel from 7 pm. Tickets £12.50. Booking required

Saturday 6th April

  • Durlston Country Park – Park Run at 9 am
  • Durlston Country Park – Family art workshop with Ilona Skladzien, creating 3D works from paper napkins along the theme of parenthood at the Learning Centre, 11 am to 1 pm. Free, donations welcome. Booking required
  • Harman’s Cross village hall – Stalls in the Hall with local makers selling arts, crafts and local produce, from 9.30 am to 12 noon
  • Sandy Hill Arts, Corfe Castle – Arty Bazaar in conjunction with the Boilerhouse Gallery with live music and food, alongside craft stalls from local makers 12 noon to 4 pm

Sunday 7th April

  • Durlston Country Park – Park to Pier guided walk. Meet at Durlston Castle at 10.30 am for a two hour walk. Adults £5, children £3. No booking required
  • Durlston Country Park – Introduction to reduction linocut by printmaker Robin Mackenzie, 10.30 am to 4 pm at the Learning Centre.£85 per person including materials. Booking required

Tuesday 9th April

  • Durlston Country Park – Easter drawing workshop with artist Mark Page at the Learning Centre 10.30 am to 12 noon, for children aged 7 and over, cost £17. Booking required

Wednesday 10th April

  • The Mowlem – Allsort’d presents Midsummer Madness. Show starts at 7 pm. Tickets adult £10, children £7. Booking required
