Experiencing neck and knee pain

Both of Swanage’s lifeboats were launched just before 2 pm to go to the aid of the man who had fallen awkwardly from a kneeboard and was experiencing neck and knee pain.

The man who had been kneeboarding, which is like water skiing but with a board rather than skis, had been rescued from the sea and was lying injured on the beach.

“The location was not accessible by vehicle”

Swanage Lifeboat Station reported:

“With the concern of a spinal injury, the casualty was carefully transferred from the water’s edge straight to a stretcher by volunteer lifeboat crew and members of Swanage Coastguard.

“As the location was not accessible by vehicle, the man was transferred by lifeboat to waiting paramedics from South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust at the boat park, where the man was transferred to the ambulance and taken to hospital.

“We are pleased to report that the injured man has been in touch with the Swanage Lifeboat Station today to thank all those who assisted with his rescue and to let us know that he sustained minor injuries, but thankfully no breakages and has since left hospital.”
