Man facing death by dangerous driving charge after fatal crash in Wool

Following a three vehicle collision, in which a man in his 30s died, a 41 year old Bournemouth man is to appear in court for an offence of causing death by dangerous driving.

The incident happened nearly 18 months ago in 2020 on the first weekend after the reopening of the hospitality sector as Covid lockdown restrictions eased in England.

Dorset Police were called at 5.35 pm on Sunday 5th July 2020 to a report of a collision on the A352 between the Woolbridge Roundabout and Wool railway station.

“A man aged in his 30s and from London was very sadly pronounced dead at the scene

Dorset Police said:

“The collision involved a black Land Rover Defender towing a caravan, a grey Hyundai Tucson and a silver Ford Fiesta.

“Officers attended, along with the ambulance service and fire service, and a number of casualties were treated for injuries.

“A man aged in his 30s and from London was very sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Four other people were taken to Poole Hospital with injuries.

“Following a detailed investigation by officers, a 41 year old Bournemouth man has been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 20th December 2021 for an offence of causing death by dangerous driving.”
