Swanage to get free air show as Red Arrows fly across bay

Ahead of the Isle of Wight festival, Swanage will be treated to a military fly-past by the Red Arrows who will be crossing the bay before heading to the pop concert.

The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team will take off from Bournemouth Airport at 5.50 pm on Friday 17th June 2022 and then fly south reaching Swanage at 5.53 pm.

The Red Arrows should be able to be seen from Swanage Bay and again when they loop back towards the South Coast

Air display over the Isle of Wight

The distinctive Hawk fast-jets will head further out to sea before looping back towards the South Coast and Lymington.

The planes will then fly out to the Isle of Wight for a 20 minute air display starting at 6 pm.

  • 5.50 pm Take off Bournemouth Airport
  • 5.52 pm Fly across Bournemouth and out to sea
  • 5.53 pm Swanage Bay via Old Harry Rocks
  • 5.54 pm Fly out across English Channel
  • 5.57 pm Fly back to South Coast and Lymington
  • 5.59 pm Fly over The Solent to the Isle of Wight
  • 6.00 pm Newport – Air display for the Isle of Wight Festival
  • 6.20 pm Sandown
  • 6.22 pm Fly out across English Channel via Ventnor
  • 6.27 pm Fly back to Bournemouth Airport via The Needles

With clear skies and warm, sunny weather forecast for Swanage, good vantage points to see the Red Arrows include Ballard Down, Peveril Point and Durlston Castle.
