The first government grants in response to the coronavirus crisis, have now started to be paid out to Dorset businesses, including those who applied from Swanage. “Last week, we told you that eligible businesses in Dorset are invited to access grant funding. The first grants were paid to businesses yesterday, and we’ll continue to pay thousands more over the coming days. We have received more than 4,000 applications in under a week. We are working hard to get the money to each business as soon as we can.”

Grants of up to £25,000

The Small Business Grant Fund is to support small businesses that already pay little or no business rates because of Small Business Rate Relief (SBBR), Rural Rate Relief (RRR) and tapered relief. This provides a one off grant of £10,000 to eligible businesses to help meet their ongoing business costs.

The Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund provides businesses in this sector with a cash grant per property. Businesses with a rateable value of up to and including £15,000 will receive a grant of £10,000, while businesses with a rateable value of between £15,001 and £51,000 will receive a grant of £25,000.

The scheme is still open to applications and businesses can apply via the Dorset Council website
