Crowds had gathered to see the Flying Scotsman

Taking the route via Northbrook Bridge which overlooks Swanage Railway Station, people who had gathered to view the famous locomotive’s arrival, quickly got out of the way to let the emergency services through.

Flying Scotsman is most famous for being the first steam locomotive in the UK to haul a train at 100 miles an hour, during a test run in 1934. The locomotive is visiting Swanage Railway for three weeks until Monday 7th November 2022.

The fire was at a detached single garage adjacent to a home in Rabling Road, a residential area of Swanage.
